With the passing of the SECURE 2.0 Act, the federal government may have a solution for reuniting job switchers with their hard-earned savings. The creation of the Retirement Savings Lost and Found may be just what many Americans have been waiting for.
In 2025, this database is being created to help employees recover lost savings from accounts they held at previous employers. In April, the Department of Labor released a Notice of Proposed Information Collection Request which asked plan sponsors to provide extensive participant information to populate the database.
This is a great opportunity for employees who have recently or frequently switched jobs to locate and maintain their 401(k) savings and not lose out on any of the cash they’ve socked away.
